Well, AF is finally here. I'm bloated, and I think I need a salt lick. MMMMMM salt. They say exercise is one of the best treatments/preventatives for painful cramps, and as a sufferer of cramps worse than labor, I have to say, so far, it's working. I'm pain free this morning. At least I'm not suffering from cramps at the moment.
Everything else hurts though. I think even my hair hurts. My hamstrings feel like they've been pulled and snapped (like a rubber band), my abs feel like I've had the worst hangover/stomach flu ever, my biceps are screaming and my quads are crying.
I am going to need a nap today. My darling munchkins better comply with that need.
CL is going on his first sleepover ever tonight! I'm excited for a quiet evening! Now I don't have to worry about CL and B messing around for 2 hours after I send them to bed. B and little R can go to bed at a decent time, which means Mama and Daddy might actually get to spend some time together that's not unconscious time. Yay! Maybe we'll cuddle in bed and watch a movie.

Day 13 - beginning of Week 3
O.M.G. Today was my first day of Burn it Up! the most advanced level of the Slim in 6 series. I think I want my mommy! And a vicodin. And a margarita. And a private masseuse named Sven to make me feel better.
By 15 minutes in, I was cussing out Debbie Siebers (the "personal" trainer in the series) You know it's bad if you can't even go 20 minutes before getting cranky.
My poor kiddos. I sure hope they decide to take it easy on me today, or they're going to have one cranky mama on their hands! Do you think I can convince them to do the laundry today?

The Rest of week 2
Sorry I haven't been checking in daily, it's been a busy week. DH has been out of town and my adorable little monsters have been giving me a run for my money!
Week 2 - Ramp it Up!
Ramp it Up! is much harder than Start it Up! for sure! The leg lift portion is killer. I swear I get a butt cramp every time. I am happy to report that I am getting stronger though. Also, I am losing pounds and inches. I have lost 9lbs so far, 4 inches off my waist, and 1 inch off my hips! Hooray! I have my size 10 jeans in the closet, that I am going to try on for size tomorrow. I'm pretty excited! I am starting to get some shoulder definition, and I have triceps! I'm glad my waist is narrowing down, and I am really hoping my love handles (I don't know why they're called that, I certainly don't love them) will start shrinking soon.
So far I think the Slim in 6 program is everything it is advertised to be. 2 weeks down and 4 more to go! I have heard from other people who have used the program, the weight loss and inches lost doesn't really take off until week 4, so if I am already having this much success, then I can only imagine what is in store for my body.

Day 8
I'll have to say Day 8 was my worst day yet. I worked out at the lowest intensity possible. I'm just so tired today. We had a crazy night last night.
It started with DH and I taking CL to the barn. He helped do barn chores and and put CL to bed I did Slim and Limber and Slim and 6 pack. When DH and I were just about to doze off for the night, hail started pounding the house. B started screaming at the same time.
He wasn't afraid of the hail, but thought there was a monster or ghost in his room. He told me something shook his bed. I spent the next 25 mins convincing him that Mama doesn't let ghosts or monsters in the house.
I didn't get to bed until sometime after midnight last night, so I think 5:45 came way to early this morning. I am going to do Slim and Limber sometime this evening, and call the day done.
I'll workout with more intensity tomorrow, and make sure to get a good night's sleep tonight.

Day 6 and 7
Day 6 went well. It was my last day of Start it Up! and I was happy to be done with it. I was able to get through the whole thing except fot the lunges. I have a bad knee from a riding accident forever ago, so lunges and I don't really mix. I always try to get them done, but mostly I end up hurting myself. I also did Slim and Limber, which is the stretching video. Let me tell you, stretching and then going to bed for the night feels almost as good as sex! LOL
Day 7. What can I say about day 7? Myarms hurt, my legs hurt, my sides hurt, and I'm drenched in sweat. Today was my first day of Ramp it Up! the second video in the series. I am supposed to do this for 5 more days. Right now, I'm not sure how I'm going to carry Ry up the stairs, much less do this 5 more times. I'm definately feeling the burn this morning. Today is laundry day - do you think I can get the kids to do their own laundry?! I hope for a peaceful, easy day. Wish me luck...

Day 5
WooHoo! I'm almost done with the first week! I am starting to feel stronger, and my posture is already starting to improve.
Last night, I went and bought a bike from Wally-world, so I could ride with CL. We had fun riding up and down the street last night. I figured it was just one more thing to add to my fitness routine.
Tomorrow, I will climb on the scale again, to see my weightloss for the week. I am done with the 6 day express diet tomorrow, and I want to see how much it helped (or didn't.)

Day 4
Day 4 has started with a much better attitude from me. I worked out a lot harder this morning, and even did the Slim and Limber stretching routine. I'm starting to get in the groove, and am feeling very motivated.
Yesterday, I went to Beachbody.com and was surfing their message boards, and I almost cried when other women who had done Slim in 6 were able to go from tight size 12 jeans back to wearing 8s. I haven't been able to wear an 8 since July 2006. I really look forward to be able to go shopping when this 6 weeks is over.
Speaking of shopping, DH and I took CL with us last night to buy CJ, A, and B's birthday presents. We went over and over how this was a big secret for the other kids, and he wasn't supposed to tell anybody. As soon as we got home and we put CL to bed, he woke up B and said, "Guess what? You're getting a bumblebee bike for you birthday!" I could have strangled him right there. Grrr! If B mentions it today, I have every intention of telling him CL was lying.

Day 3
Day 3 hasn't been so hot for me. My muscles are finally reall sore and I am so tired. I spent around 10 minutes of my 25 minute workout video just marching in place. My poor butt and legs can't take anymore squats today.
On the plus side, those gross protein shakes must be doing something. I got on the scale this morning, and I have lost 4 lbs since Monday!!!! Yay! The weightloss has remotivated me, and I am going to do the ab routine that goes with this program later this afternoon.
My cravings for sugar and crap are getting much more manageable. I'm glad I've stopped dreaming of bread and pasta. Of course, I still crave soda like no tomorrow, but I'm working on it, and have been able to resist so far.

Day 2
It just occured to me that I owe this blog some before pics and measurements. So without further ado:

All I can say is, "Eeewww!" to those pictures. I just have yo remind myself to take a deep breath, and remember that those are the before pics. It's gonna get better! I swear!
Next, here are my measurements (taken the same day as the pics)
Weight: 169lbs.
Chest: 41"
Waist: 38.5"
Hips: 43"
Right mid-thigh: 20.5"
Left mid-thigh: 21"
Right bicep: 12.25"
Left bicep: 12.75"
Now that I've put it out there for everyone to see, I really have to push myself to so I can come back with results!
The day 2 workout was really hard. I did Start it Up! again, but the muscle soreness was really making it difficult today. My butt is so sore! I was able to struggle though it. More importantly for me, I am on Day 2 of getting out of bed early, which is huge since I am SO not a morning person. Also, I am on Day 2 of no caffeine! I didn't get a caffeine headache until bedtime last night, so I am doing pretty good.
The one downside of getting up earlier to do this, is that R is a light sleeper, so when he hears me moving around, he wakes up too. I had to listen to him yell, "Dit Down?!" over and over from is crib this morning while working out. I thought I was getting up earlier for some me time, not more mommy time. I'll just have to figure that one out.
Well, time to be off to choke down yet another protein shake......

Day 1
Today is day 1 of me following the Slim in 6 program. I was a good girl, and dragged my butt out of bed first thing this morning, and I worked out. Start It Up! (the beginner DVD) was a lot harder than I thought. I can only imagine I'm going to be super sore tomorrow.
Not only am I working out, but I am following the 6 day express diet plan that came with the DVDs. Can I say that whey powder protien shakes are the nastiest thing on the face of the universe? SO gross!!! I choked it down anyway, dreaming of doughnuts all the while. *Sigh* I can't wait for the cravings to subside.

Long Day
Why can't a person burn major calories and fat by repeatedly telling children no and sending them to timeout? Already this morning it's been nothing but, "R, get off the table." "Leave the other kids alone." "Don't drink the toilet water!" "Quit throwing toys!"and on and on and on. CL and B haven't even made it out of their rooms this morning. It's B's birthday today, and it this rate, he's going to spend it in his room. Man it's going to be a long day. I don't think nap time can get here quick enough.
See why I need to get it in gear and get healthy? I need to do it for a pure defensive maneuver. The kids will over run me with their boundless energy if I don't do something about it.
Speaking of getting healthy - When I start my first day of working out, I am going to post starting measurements and *GASP!* a before picture or two. It wouldn't be right to do this without before and after measurements.

Let's get Started!
Well, um, uh, this is my blog. No scratch that. That's a horrible beginning for a post. Lets try again...
My name is Jess and I am a stay at home mom of 5 in Denver, CO. I started this blog to keep track of my fitness efforts. If anyone reads this it will help keep me honest (and motivated) and I can see my progress. I want to share what I am doing if it works, and certainly want to warn others what not to do if it's not working!
As a busy SAHM I spend my days cooking, cleaning, and chasing my kiddos. I haven't spent any real time on me in almost 2 years now. It is time for me to make time for myself. I just ordered Slim in 6 from Beachbody.com yesterday. It should be here sometime next week. I'm excited to get started with it!
Along with diet and exercise, I am saying goodbye to my two favorite vices. Cigarettes (terrible I know) and Coca-Cola. I am drinking my last Coke as I write this. At least I'm telling myself it's my last.
